As some of you probably know, the #1 way to "solve" social injustice in Brazil is through quotas. Pretty much every social or racial "minority" (for lack of a better word) has some sort of EZPass into college or employment because that's easier than actually using the insane amount of taxes we pay to, you know, fix the public service systems. While many of those quotas are already pretty dubious to begin with, it's a new project that's currently on discussion that is simply mind blowing: College and employment quotas for crack and cocaine users.
Take a minute to wrap your head around that. Soon enough, you'll have better chances at becoming a surgeon, for example, if you're a piss-poor, smoked your house away, uninstructed crack user than someone who's actually put effort into it. Yeah, that's awesome, I mean what could go wrong with putting someone's life in the hands of a junkie? Even worse is the reasoning behind the new measure, that offering life improvement options for crack users will make them simply shrug and quit smoking crack or snorting cocaine. Like hell it will, if I knew smoking crack would ease my way into college, I'd have started years ago.
This country is a fucking mess.

I hadn't heard of that and a Google search isn't turning up anything apart from the existing racial quotas, do you have a link so I can read up on it?

Funny how that works...the more you give up, the more they demand. You can apologize and compromise and Balkanize your country into oblivion, but there'll always be someone more "progressive" inventing more victims with more entitlement.
